POLAR PLUNGE!
There is a tradition here that when a boat leaves station, people jump in the water.  This is called a “polar plunge.”  The water is cold…around 0 degrees Celsius…what is that in degrees Fahrenheit?  While no boat left station today, a group of scientists will be leaving next week.  So, to celebrate, a bunch of us did a polar plunge while the rest of station gathered around to cheer us on.  We jumped from the pier into the water, then swam a short distance to a ladder.  IT WAS COLD!!!!! There was a question one of you asked earlier about what we do here in our spare time…I guess this is your answer!
